The Safety Reports Inspection App is designed to streamline safety inspections by providing an efficient and reliable tool for users. However, like any software, users may encounter issues that can disrupt the smooth operation of the app. This troubleshooting guide is intended as a companion to the Quick Start Guide for the Safety Reports Inspection App. While this guide offers practical steps to resolve common issues, it does not replace the need for Safety Reports Support. If you continue to experience problems, please contact our support team for assistance. Additionally, providing detailed information about the issue can help expedite the troubleshooting process.
1. Download Default Databases: Stuck on Step 3 or 4
If you find that the Download Default Databases function is stuck on Step 3 or Step 4 for several minutes or if the Items display is blank, it is likely that the process has frozen. Here are the steps to fix this issue:
Steps to Resolve:
Close the App:
On devices with a physical Home button, double-tap the button to view open apps.
On devices without a Home button, swipe up from the bottom of the screen to show open apps.
Swipe the inspection app’s window off the screen or close the app using the ‘x’ button (if available).
Reopen the App:
Launch the app again and sign out from the “Config” tab.Sign Back In:
After signing out, sign back in from scratch. If the download process starts automatically, allow it to run. If prompted, select Download to run the process again.
2. Offline Sync: Sync Function Stuck
If the sync function is stuck at any point during the process, it may be due to network issues or the device going into sleep mode. Here’s how to troubleshoot:
Steps to Resolve:
Ensure a Good Internet Connection:
Make sure you are connected to a stable Wi-Fi or LTE network.Prevent Device from Sleeping:
Ensure that the device doesn’t go to sleep during the sync process, as it can interfere with the syncing.Send a Log for Support:
On the Sync page, double-tap the word Inspection above the dropdown menu with the pad of your finger or stylus. This will trigger a popup that confirms the log has been sent to Safety Reports.
By doing this, a log is automatically sent to our support team, helping us diagnose any potential errors.
3. Location and Weather: Location Function Shows Omaha, NE
If your app displays the wrong location (e.g., Omaha, NE), this can be corrected by ensuring proper location permissions are granted.
For Apple Devices:
Go to Settings > Safety Reports.
Under Location, ensure that location access is set to While Using (or Always, if preferred).
Return to the app and try the geo-tag function again. This should now display your current location.
For Android Devices:
Go to Settings > Apps & Notifications > Safety Reports.
Tap Permissions and ensure Location is set to Allow only while using (or At All Times).
Once set, return to the app and try the geo-tag function again.
After confirming your location, try the weather function again, as it relies on accurate location data.
4. Photos: Missing Photos When Using the Gallery
If some or all of your photos are missing when selecting the gallery option, this is typically an issue with app permissions, particularly on Apple devices.
For Apple Devices:
Go to Settings > Safety Reports.
Under Photos, set permissions to All Photos. This will allow the app to access all photos in your gallery.
After adjusting the settings, return to the app and select Gallery again. All photos should now be visible.
For Android Devices:
Go to Settings > Safety Reports > Permissions.
Ensure that access to Files and Media is set to allow all.
Return to the app and try the Gallery button again.
5. Photos: Camera Screen Is Blank or Black
If the camera screen is blank, black, or closes when trying to take a photo, the issue is likely due to missing camera permissions.
For Apple Devices:
Go to Settings > Safety Reports.
Ensure that Camera access is enabled (the slider should show green).
For Android Devices:
Go to Settings > Safety Reports > Permissions.
Tap Camera and ensure that permission is set to Allow only while using. If prompted, choose Ask Every Time to control camera access.
Choosing Allow only while using is recommended to avoid repeated prompts when taking photos.
