The Safety Scan Mobile App from Safety Reports allows users to perform asset inspections efficiently. Inspections can be conducted ad hoc by scanning a QR code or entering a Tag number, or through a scheduled route set up by an account administrator. This guide provides a step-by-step overview of the app’s key functions.

Sign In & Settings

  • Access the Settings page by tapping the menu button in the top-left corner of the screen.

  • Available functions:

    • Sign in / Sign out

    • Reset password

Performing Inspections

Ad Hoc Inspections

  1. Open the menu button and navigate to the Safety Scan screen (the app’s main interface).

  2. Locate an asset using one of the following methods:

    • Enter the Tag ID in the Lookup field.

    • Scan the QR code using your device’s camera.

  3. If using the camera:

    • The first time you scan, you may be prompted to allow camera access—select Allow.

    • If needed, switch to the front-facing camera (if available).

  4. Once the asset is located, options include:

    • Inspect

    • Edit

    • Replace

  5. To inspect an asset, select Inspect Asset to open the checklist.

  6. Complete the checklist:

    • Use the checkboxes to mark selections.

    • Tap outside the checkbox to view more details about a question.

    • Some fields may require text or numerical input (e.g., entering a temperature for a worksite safety check).

    • Add notes or take a photo as needed.

Note: If necessary, collapse the on-screen keyboard to view all available functions.

Performing Inspections via Scheduled Routes

If your administrator has created Scheduled Routes, follow these steps:

  1. From the app’s home screen, select Scheduled Routes.

  2. A list of available routes will be displayed. Tap a route to proceed.

  3. The next screen will list all assets assigned to that route.

  4. Select an asset by tapping its row.

  5. The inspection checklist for that asset will launch (same process as an Ad Hoc Inspection).

  6. After completing the inspection, a checkmark will appear next to the inspected asset.

  7. Continue selecting assets and completing inspections until the entire route is finished.

Editing Assets and Tasks

Editing an Asset

  1. Locate the asset using Lookup or QR Code Scan.

  2. Tap Edit Asset to modify asset details.

  3. Update information using text fields or drop-down menus as required.

Viewing & Managing Tasks

  1. From the app’s home screen, select Tasks.

  2. Cycle through assigned tasks using filters (e.g., Daily, Monthly).

  3. If a task requires an inspection:

    • Select Scan Asset to begin the process.

Viewing Asset Inspection History

  1. Scan the asset to retrieve its information.

  2. Scroll to the bottom of the page to view past inspections.

  3. Tap on a previous inspection date to view details from that specific inspection.

Conclusion

The Safety Scan Mobile App makes asset inspections simple and efficient, whether conducted ad hoc or through scheduled routes. Users can also manage assets, view inspection history, and complete assigned tasks seamlessly.
